|Race||children of the forest|
|Book||A Dance with Dragons (mentioned)|
Appearance and Character
Like the other children of the forest, Black Knife is smaller than humans, but not childlike. Black Knife has nut-brown skin, dappled like a deer's with paler spots. Black Knife's hands have only three fingers and a thumb, with sharp black claws instead of nails. Black Knife has large ears that can hear things that no man can hear. Black Knife has large golden eyes slitted like those of a cat, allowing them to see in dark passages.
A Dance with Dragons
In the cave of the three-eyed crow beyond the Wall, Bran Stark and his companions Meera and Jojen Reed meet a remnant of the children of the forest, who serve the last greenseer, Lord Brynden. Their names are too long for the human tongue, according to Leaf, so Bran and Meera give them names. Black Knife is one of them. Bran does not know what Black Knife thinks about their new name.
