The Dyre Den is the seat of House Brune of the Dyre Den in the crownlands. It is located in Crackclaw Point along the southern shore of the Bay of Crabs.
A small castle with three crooked towers, the Dyre Den lies on a wind-carved cliff above the end of the bayside road from Maidenpool. The castle is accessible from below by a steep and narrow cleft in the cliff, with the stony path leading up to the castle walls. Pine forests and limestone hills lie beyond the castle.
Tales of Sunfyre taking refuge in Crackclaw Point were told in the halls of the Crabbs and Brunes.
A Feast for Crows
Dick Crabb, Brienne of Tarth, and Podrick Payne pass by the castle in their search for the fool who was looking for passage aboard a ship from the Whispers. Dick does not think they will receive a warm reception at the castle, so the three travelers continue on through the forest to the Whispers.
Podrick: Is that the Whispers?
Dick: That look a bloody ruin t' you? That's the Dyre Den, where old Lord Brune keeps his seat.—Podrick Payne and Dick Crabb
