Lord of Skyreach

Lord of Skyreach[1][2][3][4] is one of the titles held by the head of House Fowler of Skyreach. It dates back to the time they ruled in their own right as Kings and Lords of the Wide Way.[5]

History

The Lords of Skyreach have long fought against the marcher lords of the Dornish Marches to the north.[6][7] This includes King Ferris Fowler who led ten thousand Dornishmen through the Wide Way to the Kingdom of the Reach. However, King Garth VII Gardener turned them back.[8]

When House Fowler bent the knee to House Martell during Nymeria's War, they gave up their royal title and their lordship over the Wide Way, but remained Lords of Skyreach and were granted the title of Warden of the Prince's Pass. The last Fowler King, Garrison Fowler, was exiled to the Night's Watch and the other members of House Fowler sided with the Martells against the Yronwoods for the rest of the war.[1][9]

In 10 AC, during the First Dornish War, Lord Fowler, leading a Dornish host, burned Nightsong and took hostages from the marcher castle. The Targaryens retaliated by unleashing their dragons on Skyreach and other Dornish castles during the Dragon's Wroth.[10] Lord Fowler was murdered for the Iron Throne's ransom on his head.[11]
