History

Lord Maldon Massey built Stonedance and ruled Massey's Hook in the Age of Heroes. The Masseys broke away from House Durrandon during the reign of King Durwald the Fat and declared themselves kings, however.[7] King Josua Massey was the last Massey king, his son was made a puppet lord under the rule of King Togarion Bar Emmon.[8]

Prior to Aegon's Conquest, House Massey was sworn to House Durrandon of Storm's End but had closer ties to House Targaryen of nearby Dragonstone. When Aegon the Conqueror launched his invasion of Westeros, Lord Triston Massey supported him instead of the Storm King, Argilac the Arrogant. Aegon later made him his master of laws.[9]

Lord Lucifer Massey stood for King Maegor I Targaryen in his trial of seven in 42 AC, and was killed by the Warrior's Son Ser Harys Horpe.[5][3]

In 47 AC, Lord Massey and his two eldest sons died of a fever. He was succeeded by his third son, Albin Massey. Three years later, King Jaehaerys I Targaryen named Albin his new master of laws and justiciar.[4][10] Lord Albin died in the winter of 59 AC from the Shivers.[11]

Lord Gormon Massey was killed attempting to tame Vermithor on Dragonstone during the Dance of the Dragons.[12]
