The westerlands and the location of the Straits of Fair Isle
The Straits of Fair Isle lie between the island of Fair Isle and the mainland westerlands.
History
After the Dance of the Dragons, Ser Erwin Lannister and Lords Prester and Tarbeck sailed from Feastfires in an effort to free Fair Isle from the ironborn of Dalton Greyjoy. They were betrayed, however, and killed by ironmen waiting on longships.[1]
During Greyjoy's Rebellion, the Iron Fleet was defeated in the straits in a sea battle off Fair Isle.[2][3]
