Theon I

Synopsis

A man has been murder, Theon is with Roger Ryswell who declares that he must of fallen off the wall drunk. Roose Bolton and his host are still in Winterfell, snowed in. The snow has been relentless, never ceasing, yet they know that Stannis is in an even worse predicament outside of the walls. They discuss the worst of the storm, Theon knows not to anger the north gods, as the snow could continue worse.

Holly, one of Abel the Bard's washer women, sits down next to Theon, who is upset that she has touched him. She asks him about the crypts, Theon comes to the conclusion that she, Abel, and the other women want out. Surmising that they have suffered Ramsay Bolton's lockdown of Winterfell. The next morning Aenys Frey's squire is found dead and naked outside in the snow. Later on that day another man was found dead, with a crushed skull, assumingly from a horse kick.

The deaths upset some of the host who start to quarrel. Some are tired of waiting for Stannis and want to attack him. A fight nearly breaks out as Ser Hosteen and Aenys Frey blame Wyman Manderly for the deaths of their three kin Rhaegar, Jared, and Symond. It almost comes to a duel before Roger Ryswell and Barbrey Dustin calm them down, though Roose did nothing throughout the near altercation.

Soon the newly rebuilt stable collapses killing two men and the horses. Roose orders them dug up when a more suspicious death of Yellow Dick is discovered, with his namesake stuffed in his mouth so hard that three teeth have been broken. This death is taken more seriously as he is one of the the Bolton's closest Bastard Boys. He is soon ushered to see Roose by Steelshanks Walton, Roose says that Theon has been seen where all the murders have occurred. Though Lady Dustin deflects the accusations of murder when she gets him to reveal his hands, stating that he is to ruined to have the strength to inflict the murders.

Suddenly a war horn and drum is sounded, the men inside the walls begin to believe that Stannis has arrived. Theo goes to pray in the godswood, seeing hints of Bran's very face in the weirwood, hearing it whisper his name. The spearwives appear, they say that they have answered Theon's prayers, and he is to come and see Abel.
