A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a collection containing the first three Dunk and Egg novellas.[1] The collection was released on October 6, 2015.[2][3]

Content

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will contain the first three Dunk and Egg novellas[1]:

Release

The original intent was to publish all Dunk and Egg novellas in a series of anthologies, as was done for the first three tales. After that, they were supposed to be collected in one big book. By the time The Mystery Knight was released, however, it became clear that the stories were too long, and that there were going to be too many to follow the original plan. Instead, it was planned to do a series of Dunk and Egg collections.

The title The Hedge Knight was the first title that was considered. But seeing as how there already was confusion between The Hedge Knight novella, and The Hedge Knight graphic novel, this title was not chosen for the collection. The first collection was then titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms instead.[1]

Because A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will consist of previously-published material, the idea was to add additional content for those readers who had previously bought the anthologies containing the three original Dunk and Egg tales.[1] Therefore, the book contains more than 160 illustrations by Gary Gianni throughout the entire book.[2][4]

In several other languages than English, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has already been published in the years before, as several publishers acquired the rights to the novella's, and did not wish to wait.[5] These editions of the book, however, don't contain the artwork.[1]
