Alayaya is a beautiful young Summer Islander, with skin as smooth and black as polished jet, and wide dark eyes. She is taller than Shae, but not as tall as her own mother. She dresses in flowing silks, cinched at the waist with a beaded belt.[2]

Alayaya speaks the Common Tongue with only a light accent.[2] She is learning to read.[3] Of her, Tyrion feels that "a sweeter, braver, more innocent girl he had seldom met".[4]

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

Anguy spends the small fortune he had won at the Hand's tourney on Jayde, Alayaya and Dancy, girls from Chataya's brothel, and eating and drinking roast swan and Arbor wine.[5]

A Clash of Kings

Thanks to Varys, who shows him a secret passage between a small stable and Chataya's establishment, Hand of the King Tyrion Lannister uses Alayaya as a cover for his visits to Shae.[2] Those in the brothel think Tyrion is using her services, but Alayaya actually spends this free time sleeping.[3]

Just before the Battle of the Blackwater, Alayaya is abducted by the Kettleblack brothers at Queen Cersei Lannister's demand in order to pressure Tyrion. Tyrion promises that whatever the Kettleblacks do to her, he will have done to Prince Tommen Baratheon.[6]

A Storm of Swords

After the battle, Lord Tywin Lannister has Alayaya tied to a post and whipped, then thrown out of the Red Keep naked and injured.[4] In an effort to apologize for her sacrifice and pain, Tyrion sends her a necklace of silver and jade and a pair of matching bracelets.[7]

After receiving his new knighthood, Bronn visits Chataya's brothel and sleeps with Alayaya and Marei simultaneously.[7] Oberyn Martell beds Alayaya during his visit to King's Landing.[8]

Quotes about Alayaya

You are very beautiful, Alayaya. From head to heels, every part of you is lovely.[2]

Alayaya was a whore, true enough, but a sweeter, braver, more innocent girl he had seldom met.[4]

—Tyrion's thoughts

They tied her to a post in the yard and scourged her, then shoved her out the gate naked and bloody.[4]

At Chataya's I bedded the black-skinned girl. Alayaya, I believe she is called. Exquisite, despite the stripes on her back.[8]
