History

After Maegor exterminated House Harroway in 44 AC, he divided up the Harroway holdings among his remaining supporters: he granted Harrenhal itself to House Towers, but gave rule over Lord Harroway's Town to Lord Alton Butterwell, and the rest of the Harroway holdings to Lord Dormund Darry.

The execution of Alys Harroway, and soon Tyanna of the Tower as well, left Maegor in need of new brides, as he had still failed to produce any heir. Alton suggested his widowed stout sister as a match, who while no great beauty had given birth to seven children so her fertility was beyond doubt. Maegor was scornful of this offer - but did keep in mind his advice to select women of proven fertility, when in 47 AC he chose his three new "black brides". [1]
