History

During his life time, King Aegon IV Targaryen had multiple mistresses. Barba was the fifth mistress of Aegon, who at the time might not yet have been crowned king.[3][4] From their union, one child is known: a boy named Aegor Rivers, who would later better be known as Bittersteel, the eventual founder of the Golden Company. Aegor took after his mother in colouring, inheriting had dark hair.[2]

One day, when Aegon was visiting Stone Hedge, he went out hunting, and saw the hills known as the Teats. Aegon named the mountains for his mistress.[1]

As a mistress, Barba was eventually replaced by Melissa Blackwood. This led to the later feud between Aegor and the son Melissa had by King Aegon IV, Brynden Rivers, who would later be known as Lord Bloodraven.[3]

While Barba was buxom, Melissa Blackwood was slender in shape. Barba, after Melissa had replaced her, was once heard to have said that Melissa was as flat as a boy. When word got back to King Aegon, he renamed the Mother's Teats hills for her Melissa.[1]
