The Battle of Ashford was a battle fought during Robert's Rebellion between royal and rebel forces at Ashford, the seat of House Ashford.
Battle
The battle occurred when the van of the army of the Reach under command of Randyll Tarly ran into Robert Baratheon's forces. Before the main army could join them, Tarly's forces overran Robert's army.[1] Because the result is remembered as inconclusive the battle was probably not very large and Robert's forces remained relatively intact. Former Targaryen loyalist Lord Cafferen, who had joined the rebels after his defeat at Summerhall, was killed in the battle. Tarly had his head sent to Aerys II.
Aftermath
After the battle Robert travelled to the North to link up with his allies. The victorious Tyrell-army invaded the Stormlands and went on to besiege Storm's End.
