Ser Braxton Beesbury known as the Stinger was knight from House Beesbury and the heir of Honeyholt during the reign of Jaehaerys I Targaryen.[1]

Character and Appearance

Braxton was described as both handsome and arrogant.[1]

History

Braxton was described as the finest young lance in the Reach at the time. It was rumored he had fathered two bastards before he turned nineteen, one in the Reach and one in King's Landing. Braxton became close companions to Princess Saera Targaryen, Alys Turnberry, Perianne Moore , Jonah Mooton and Red Roy Connnington. The six became inseparable at every feast and ball, hunted and hawked together, and once sailed across Blackwater Bay to Dragonstone.[1]

In 84 AC, Roy, Jonah, and Braxton were found drunk at the Blue Pearl, a brothel in King's Landing, laughing as the king's fool, Tom Turnip, was surrounded by whores. When asked by men of the City Watch, Roy admitted they thought it would be funny to see the fool do the deed. One of the watchmen overheard Princess Saera name being mentioned by the drunken youths.[1]

When Perianne and Alys were questioned about the incident, it was revealed that Alys was pregnant outside of wedlock, and that Saera had coerced them into sexual acts with her male favorites. Roy, Jonah, and Braxton were then imprisoned in the dungeons.[1]

When questioned by King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne, Saera confessed that she had given her maidenhead to all three of her male favorites, with each of them thinking he was the first. She proposed a solution of redemption by marrying all three of her favorites, like King Maegor and his six wives, of which the king grew furious at.[1]

The harshest punishment was reserved for Ser Braxton since he was the most guilty of the three. On the Iron Throne, Jaehaerys condemned him to have his tongue and nose removed, he was to be gelded and his legs and arms broken and healed in a way to ensure Braxton was a cripple for the rest of his life, Braxton turned pale until King Jaehaerys said as a knight he had the right to trial by combat. Braxton was relieved and arrogantly looked at the Kingsguard asking which of these old men do I have to face to which Jaehaerys replied: This Old man whose daughter you seduced and despoiled.[1]

Ser Braxton faced the King the next morning, Braxton was nineteen, the King was forty-nine, both men carried shields and wore full armour, Jaehaerys armed with Blackfyre. Ser Braxton had chosen a Morningstar, hoping the king was unaccustomed to defending himself against that weapon. When the combat began Stinger rushed the King hoping to overwhelm him with speed and strength of youth. Jaehaerys took every blow on his shield, conserving his strength and just concentrated on defence. Ser Braxton was soon exhausted and could not raise his arm, it was then that Jaehaerys went on the offensive and made short work of him.[1]
