Carcosa is a possibly legendary city in far eastern Essos. It is located on the southeastern shore of the Hidden Sea within the Mountains of the Morn; the City of the Winged Men is situated on the northwestern shore.[1]
Behind the scenes
Carcosa has not yet been mentioned in the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, only appearing in The Lands of Ice and Fire and A World of Ice and Fire. Its name may be a reference by George R. R. Martin to Carcosa, a city in "An Inhabitant of Carcosa" by Ambrose Bierce, The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers, and the Cthulhu Mythos of H. P. Lovecraft.
