Castamere is a stronghold located near Tarbeck Hall and the Crag. It is rich in gold mines, and used to the seat of House Reyne but was abandoned after the eradication of the house by Lord Tywin Lannister, following a failed rebellion. During the War of the Five Kings, Tywin granted Castamere to House Spicer.

Greatjon Umber captured the gold mines of Castamere after the Battle of Oxcross.[1]

A Storm of Swords

For the part he played in the downfall of House Stark, Ser Rolph Spicer was raised to lordship and given Castamere.[2]
