When he leaves for King's Landing, Lord Eddard Stark takes members of his personal guard with him, including Cayn. He is one of the few guardsmen originally from the north left in King's Landing after the death of Jory Cassel and his men and the departure of Alyn and his men.[3] After the death of King Robert I Baratheon, Cayn is slain by Sandor Clegane during the arrest of Eddard.[4]
