Prince Daeron Targaryen was the youngest son and fourth born child of King Aegon V Targaryen and Queen Betha Blackwood.[2][3]

History

Prince Daeron was in many respects the Loras Tyrell of his generation, remembered as a splended knight and born soldier, who thirsted for battle.[3]

Prince Daeron was betrothed to Lady Olenna Redwyne in 237 AC, when both were nine years old, a betrothal arranged by his mother. After both his three older siblings, Duncan, Jaehaerys and Shaera had broken their own betrothals - Duncan to marry Jenny of Oldstones, Jaehaerys and Shaera to marry each other - Daeron broke his betrothal to Olenna as well. He did so when he was eighteen years old, in 246 AC. But while his brothers had broken their betrothals for another woman, this was not the case for Daeron.[3]

While Daeron would not live for much longer, he would remain unwed. He preferred the companionship of Ser Jeremy Norridge, a young knight with whom the Prince had been befriended since they had been squires together at Highgarden.[3]

In 251 AC, Prince Daeron led an army against the Rat, the Hawk and the Pig. Though they managed to quash the rebellion, Daeron was killed in battle, as was Ser Jeremy, who died by his side.[3]
