Elmar Frey is a member of House Frey and is the youngest son of Lord Walder Frey.[2] Elmar is the twenty-second-born son of Walder and the fourth son born of Walder's marriage to Annara Farring.

History

There is a rumor in the Twins that Lady Annara Farring slept with Black Walder Frey, a great-grandson of Lord Walder Frey, casting doubts on Elmar's parentage.[3]

A Game of Thrones

As part of the pact sealed during the parley between Lady Catelyn Stark and Lord Walder Frey, Elmar is promised to Arya Stark.[4]

A Clash of Kings

Elmar squires for Lord Roose Bolton and is part of his army when it takes Harrenhal.[5] There, he frequently interacts with his betrothed, Arya Stark, who has assumed the identity "Nan", leaving Elmar unaware of the fact. When Elmar learns that his betrothal to Arya, his "princess", has been called off due to Robb Stark's marriage to Jeyne Westerling, he cries about losing his princess.[5]

A Storm of Swords

Elmar remains at Harrenhal to serve Roose Bolton. He serves as Bolton's cupbearer when Roose hosts Ser Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth.[6]
