A Clash of Kings
Ser Emmon guards Renly's pavillion when Catelyn Tully arrives to watch the forthcoming battle between Renly and Stannis, escorted by Ser Robar Royce. During the conversation between Catelyn and Renly, Renly is slain, with Brienne of Tarth perceived by Ser Emmon and Ser Robar to be the culprit. Ser Emmon attacks Brienne with the aid of some men-at-arms. He is prevented from slaying Brienne by the timely intervention of Ser Robar, who was persuaded that Brienne might not be the slayer of Renly by Catelyn.[2] He was later killed by Ser Loras Tyrell, who in a red rage, slew both Ser Emmon and Ser Robar Royce.[3] He swore as he was dying that Brienne of Tarth was Renly's killer.[4]
