A Feast for Crows
Ser Godry is sworn to King Stannis I. He is among the knights who went north to the Wall with him. He is a tall man and earned the nickname Giantslayer during the Battle of Castle Black, where he chased after a fleeing giant, put a lance in its back and then hacked off its head.[2]
A Dance with Dragons
Godry confronts Jon Snow, attempting to provoke him into a fight. Jon ignores him.[3] He is among those who marches with Stannis on Deepwood Motte then Winterfell. He heads up the prayers to R'hllor at the nightfires and constantly urged Stannis to make an offering (burn someone) to R'hllor in order to try and stop the Blizzard slowing the march of the army. He got his wish when four men were caught in the act of cannibalism and all four men were staked and burned (though one was killed before being burned by Clayton Suggs as the men kept throwing insults at the Queen's Men as they tied him down).
He leds the vanguard of Stannis Baratheons army.
Godry is thought by both Jon Snow and Asha Greyjoy as arrogant and vain, hunger for glory, deaf to caution and a glutton for praise. He looks down on smallfolk, wolves (Northmen) and women.
Appearance
Godry is broad chested and well muscled
