Recent Events
A Storm of Swords
When the wildlings attack Mole's Town and Castle Black, Hareth is one of the Moles who flee to the Wall. There he helps defend Castle Black from the wildlings. He declares his interest in joining the Night's Watch.[1] He is trained by Jon Snow due to the loss of Ser Endrew Tarth as master-at-arms at Castle Black.[2]
A Dance with Dragons
Horse is trained by Iron Emmett after his appointment as master-at-arms at Castle Black. Jon spies him training in the yard against Hop-Robin.[3]
He later travels to the weirwood grove just north of the Wall in the haunted forest in order to say his vows. He is accompanied by five other recruits (Leathers, Jax, Satin, Arron, and Emrick). They were escorted by Lord Commander Jon Snow, along with ten rangers. Jon, Iron Emmett, and Bowen Marsh weighed each recruit and assigned them to an order. Horse was assigned to the builders.[4]
