House Borrell of Sweetsister is a noble house from the Vale ruling over Sweetsister,[3] an island of the Three Sisters, and its port town, Sisterton.[4] Their castle is Breakwater in Sisterton. House Borrell's titles include Lord of Sweetsister, Shield of Sisterton, Master of Breakwater Castle, and Keeper of the Night Lamp.[2] They are sworn to House Sunderland, who also reside in Sisterton.[5][6]

Their arms are a white spider crab on grey-green.[2] Their words do not appear in the books.

History

The ancestors of House Borrell were pirate kings until the Starks came down on them with fire and sword.[2] For five thousand years the Borrells have had "the mark", a sort of webbing between the three middle fingers of their hands.[2][7]

During the Dance of the Dragons, Prince Jacaerys Velaryon gained Houses Borrell and Sunderland for the blacks during his visit to Sisterton.[5][6] The Sunderlands dragged the Three Sisters into two of the Blackfyre Rebellions, for which the Sistermen suffered grievously.[2]

At the start of Robert's Rebellion, Lord Borrell let Lord Eddard Stark sail for White Harbor, telling him to remain silent about his stay in Sisterton in case the rebellion failed.[2]

Recent Events

A Dance with Dragons

Davos Seaworth is brought before Lord Godric Borrell when he is left on Sweetsister. Rather than bringing his prisoner to Lord Triston Sunderland, Godric sends Davos on to White Harbor.[2]
