House Egen is a noble house from the Vale, one of the principal families sworn to House Arryn.[1] According to semi-canon sources, they blazon their arms with a yellow sun, white crescent moon, and silver star on blue chief above white.[2] Their motto is "By Day or Night".[3]

History

Ser Vardis Egen served Lord Jon Arryn as captain of the guards during his tenure as Hand of the King.[4] When Lady Lysa Arryn and Lord Robert Arryn fled back to the Eyrie after Jon's death, Robert played with Vardis's son, but the boy was sent away for Lysa judged him too rough.[5]

Awaiting Lady Catelyn Stark upon her arrival at the Eyrie are Maester Colemon and Ser Vardis Egen, the captain of the household guard. Vardis fights on behalf of House Arryn during Tyrion Lannister's trial by battle, in which he is slain by Bronn.[4]
