- Dunk spots the Estermont turtle among the heraldry present at the Ashford Tourney. Ser Gunthor Estermont rides in the lists.
A Song of Ice and Fire
- Cersei Lannister remembers how Robert spent half a year at Estermont with his mother's family. There he bedded a cousin he used to play with as a child.
- Stannis Baratheon starts his letter proclaiming himself King stating that all men know him as the trueborn son of Steffon Baratheon and by his wife Cassana Estermont.
- On the outset of the War of the Five Kings, Lord Eldon declared for his nephew and liege, King Renly Baratheon. The Estermonts' sea turtle is seen by Catelyn Tully in Renly's camp.
- The day before his death, when he was preparing the battle against his brother Stannis, Renly decided Lord Estermont would command the reserve of his army. Lord Estermont assured him he would not fail.
- The Estermonts turn to Stannis after Renly's death, along with most other stormlords.
- Ser Cortnay Penrose acknowledged the presence the great lords Estermont, Errol and Varner during his parley with Stannis.
- Lord Estermont recommended against storming the walls of Storm's End, believing it would cost too many lives. He suggested a duel against Ser Cortnay, or a long siege to starve them.
- Lord Estermont refused to turn to the religion of the Lord of Light, and asked to fight under the crowned stag banner instead of the flaming heart.
- The banner of House Estermont was spotted in the van of Stannis's army as it approached King's Landing.
- Lord Estermont and his men fought at the Battle of the Blackwater. Along with his first son Ser Aemon and his grandson Ser Alyn, Lord Eldon is made a prisoner and bends the knee to Joffrey after Stannis' defeat.
- Lord Estermont's second son Ser Lomas and his grandson Ser Andrew escape the battle, and lead part of the Greenstone men in remaining loyal to Stannis after the Blackwater.
- Lord Estermont was a guest at Joffrey's wedding.
- Ser Andrew Estermont helped Davos Seaworth to smuggle Edric Storm out of Dragonstone. He sailed away with the boy, commanding his escort.
- Lord Estermont declared at Tyrion Lannister's trial that he had seen how Tyrion picked up the chalice as Joffrey was dying and poured the remaining wine to the floor.
- The Estermont banner was seen at Castle Black after Stannis's arrival.
- Old Lord Estermont was one of the insulting matches Lord Doran Martell proposed to his daughter Arianne.
- Lord Qyburn reports to Cersei that Lord Eldon Estermont married Sylva Santagar - unknown to those in King's Landing, this was punishment for Sylva's part in Arianne Martell's attempted coup.
