During the timespan of the events described on A Song of Ice and Fire the house is ruled by:
- Lord Ondrew Locke, Lord of Oldcastle. An old man.
With unspecified familiar relationship to the main branch of the house there are also:
- Ser {Donnel Locke}, a knight. Slain at the Red Wedding.
- Ser {Mallador Locke}, a senior member of the Night's Watch. Died on the great ranging.
- Sybelle Locke, Robett Glover's wife. Mother to Gawen and Erena Glover.

A Song of Ice and Fire
- Ser Mallador Locke joins the Night's Watch expedition commanded by Lord Mormont. He is in charge of the baggage train and the packhorses.
- Lord Ondrew Locke excuses himself for not being able to help to Ser Rodrik Cassel against the ironborn because he is too old to dare the journey.
- At one point, the acting Hand of the King Tyrion planned to exchange Ser Donnel Locke and Lord Medger Cerwyn for Tion Frey, but the negotiations failed. With all probability Ser Donnel had been captured at the Battle of the Green Fork. He was held at Harrenhal and was freed by Roose Bolton.
- When the Watch received news of the approach of the wildlings to the Fist of the First Men, Ser Mallador Locke supported retreating back to the Wall.
- Ser Mallador was not among the survivors of the expedition to return to the Wall.
- The Lockes suffered heavy losses when caught on the wrong side of the Red Fork when attacked by Ser Gregor Clegane while going to the Twins to attend Lord Edmure's wedding.[2][3]
- Ser Donnel Locke was slain at the Red Wedding. Catelyn saw him being taken by crossbow bolts.
- Maester Aemon sent a raven to Oldcastle in a plea for help to defend Castle Black from wildlings.
- Sybelle Locke and her children were held captive at Deepwood Motte by Asha Greyjoy.
- When Davos Seaworth is first presented to Wyman Manderley an unknown Locke (described as "A stocky man in white and purple, whose cloak was fastened with a pair of crossed bronze keys") is present. He speaks briefly to the detriment of Ramsay Bolton.
- When Roose Bolton takes Theon/Reek to Barrow Hall, amongst the banners be sees are "Old Lord Locke's crossed keys."
