The known Mudds during the timespan of the events described in A Song of Ice and Fire are:
- John Mudd, called Young John. An exile serving with the Golden Company.
- Lorimas Mudd, an exile serving with the Golden Company.
History
The Mudds once ruled as Kings of the Rivers and the Hills.[3] They were the last of the First Men to rule the Trident.[4] They ruled as King of the Rivers and the Hills for over a thousand years until the line was extinguised with the death of Tristifer V.[5]
Three members of the house are named:
- Tristifer IV Mudd, the Hammer of Justice. He fought victoriously against the Andal invaders until he was slain in his 100th battle.[6]
- Tristifer V Mudd, his son. He was not the equal of his father and soon lost his kingdom and his castle. With his death the house became extinct.
- Tristan Mudd, considered one of the worst Lord Commanders of the Night's Watch.
According to another semi-canon source the Mudds were destroyed in wars against the Storm Kings or Ironmen.[7] Unless the Storm Kings or Ironmen were the Andal invaders this may be an error or the author may have changed his opinion.
