House Roote of Lord Harroway's Town is a noble house from Harroway in the riverlands.[1] According to semi-canon sources, they blazon their arms with a two-headed horse, brown, on a field of wavy green and green.[2] They may have taken their sigil from Old King Andahar, as the ferry boat at Harroway is referred to as the king's two-headed water horse.[1]

History

Ser Richard Roote was one of the first knights of the Kingsguard when the order was founded in 10 AC.[3]

Lord Roote supported Prince Aegon Targaryen in his unsuccessful war against King Maegor I Targaryen.[4]

House Roote had acquired Lord Harroway's Town by the start of the Dance of the Dragons,[5] and they supported Rhaenyra Targaryen during the civil war. The Rootes helped to capture Stone Hedge,[5] but Ser Criston Cole later defeated Lord Roote, Lord Darry, and Ser Oswald Wode along the Gods Eye and Prince Aemond Targaryen burned Harroway with Vhagar.[6]

Recent Events

A Storm of Swords

Ser Andrey Charlton and his squire, Lucas Roote, are killed by the forces of House Lannister during the War of the Five Kings.[7]

Sandor Clegane and Arya Stark visit Lord Harroway's Town and find it washed out by the overflowing Trident.[1]
