The Iron Fleet is the largest grouping of longships from the Iron Islands. They number one hundred, and unlike other Ironborn ships they are considered the collective property of the Ironborn, each ship captained and crewed by people of various islands.[1] The commander of the Iron Fleet is called the Lord Captain. Currently the commander is Victarion Greyjoy.

Recent Events

A Feast for Crows

The fleet assists the other ships of the Iron Islands in the battle of the shields. Seven ships are lost in the ensuing naval war. Euron Greyjoy commands Victarion to take the Iron fleet to Slaver's Bay and return with Daenerys Targaryen

A Dance with Dragons

The fleet sets sail. During the voyage they capture a Merchant Ship called Noble Lady taking its Cargo and adding the ship to the Fleet. Along the Dornish coast they captured five other ships, three cog's, a galleas and a galley making the Iron Fleet now number Ninety-nine. Victarion after taking on supplies at the Stepstones splits the Fleet into three squadrons and sails for Slaver's Bay.

By the time however when the fleets met at the tip of the Isle of Cedars however only Forty-Five ships arrived. Several had straggled back, some lost to storm. Nine additional ships were captured however but these were merchant vessels and fishing boats.[2]

When arriving at Volantis VIctarion learned that the Volantis Fleet will soon sail against Daenerys so he ordered the Fleet to set sail immediately after they took supplies on he left the vessel Shark at a nearby Isle to alert all stragglers where the Fleet has gone. The fleet numbers fifty-three to this point minus Shark.[1]

The fleet continues its voyage capturing more cogs and galleys along the way. With the priest of R'hllor Moqorro now aiding the fleet, the ships are making faster progress and will reach Meereen before the Fleet of Volantis. The Fleet currently number sixty-one.[3]
