Appearance and Character
He is a dark and fierce young man.[1]
History
Jarl has been a raider for eight years, having gone over the Wall with the Weeper and Alfyn Crowkiller.[2]
Recent Events
A Storm of Swords
Jarl was 'stolen' by Val, the sister of Dalla. He was with Val when Jon Snow was presented to Mance Rayder.[1] He was tasked, along with his co-commander Styr, of scaling the Wall and taking Castle Black from the rear. He lead a group of four climbers up the Wall, but fell to his death when part of the Wall broke and fell away. Jon Snow saw him die.[3]
A Dance with Dragons
Before she heads out to find Tormund Giantsbane Val asks Jon Snow if he killed Jarl. Jon tells her,
Val replies that that is what she had heard, but she had to be sure.
