Jarl is a wildling raider.

Appearance and Character

He is a dark and fierce young man.[1]

History

Jarl has been a raider for eight years, having gone over the Wall with the Weeper and Alfyn Crowkiller.[2]

Recent Events

A Storm of Swords

Jarl was 'stolen' by Val, the sister of Dalla. He was with Val when Jon Snow was presented to Mance Rayder.[1] He was tasked, along with his co-commander Styr, of scaling the Wall and taking Castle Black from the rear. He lead a group of four climbers up the Wall, but fell to his death when part of the Wall broke and fell away. Jon Snow saw him die.[3]

A Dance with Dragons

Before she heads out to find Tormund Giantsbane Val asks Jon Snow if he killed Jarl. Jon tells her,

"The Wall killed Jarl." [4]

Val replies that that is what she had heard, but she had to be sure.
