Ser Jarman Buckwell[1] (also spelled Jarmen Buckwell[2][3]) is a knight of House Buckwell. He is a senior ranger of the Night's Watch.

Appearance

He is a square, stolid man.[1]

History

It is possible that Jarman chose to join the Night's Watch following the Sack of King's Landing.[4]

Recent Events

A Clash of Kings

Jarman is the leader of the scouts on the ranging beyond the Wall.[1] Qhorin Halfhand suggests himself, Jarman and Thoren Smallwood as leaders of small scouting groups sent into the mountains to seek out the wildling camp.[5]

A Storm of Swords

Jarman lead the scouting mission to climb the Giant's Stair in search of the wildlings. By the time they return, the disastrous Battle of the Fist of the First Men has already happened and the main party already evacuated. His team remains in the wilderness tracking Mance's host where they spot Jon Snow walking freely amongst the wildlings. Jarman's team is able to return to Castle Black after the main party and before Jon Snow. He reports to Maester Aemon and Donal Noye that Jon may be a turncloak.[6]

A Dance with Dragons

Jon thinks to himself that the Night's Watch has lost too many of its best men, including Jeor Mormont, Qhorin, Donal, Benjen Stark, and Jarmen, indicating the scout is now deceased.[7] He was possibly killed in the Battle of the Bridge of Skulls.[8]
