History
In Lord Darry's days, the Darrys stood high in King Aerys II Targaryen's favor.[5] At the start of Robert's Rebellion the house sided with the Targaryens instead of its liege lord Hoster Tully.[6] Three of Lord Darry's sons died in the Battle of the Trident.[7] With the fall of House Targaryen, the Darrys lost half their lands, most of their wealth, and almost all their power.[5]
In 298 AC, Castle Darry is run by Ser Raymun.[7] This may indicate that Lord Darry retired from government affairs in the years after the rebellion.
Recent Events
A Game of Thrones
Ser Raymun dies in the battle at the Mummer's Ford.[8]
A Clash of Kings
After the Battle of the Camps, King Robb Stark allows the riverlords to return to their lands. Raymun's son Lyman recaptures Castle Darry, but is killed less than a fortnight later when Ser Gregor Clegane sacks the castle. With Lyman's death, the male line of House Darry is extinguished.[9] The female line still lives through Lord Darry's two daughters, Mariya and Jeyne,[10] both married to members of House Frey.[11] A bastard cousin remains as well.[12]
A Storm of Swords
After Sandor Clegane is captured by the Brotherhood without Banners, Tom of Sevenstreams confronts him with the deaths of Ser Raymun, Lord Darry and young Lord Lyman by soldiers of houses Lannister and Clegane.[1] Since Lyman has not been lord at the time of Robb Stark's crowning,[13][11] but is called lord by Tom at the time of his death, Lord Darry must have died sometime at the beginning of 299 AC and has been succeeded by Lyman for a short time.
A Feast for Crows
Mariya Darry's daughter Amerei Frey becomes Lady of Darry through her marriage to Darry's new lord Lancel Lannister. Lancel does not show any interest in his lordship or wife, though. Mariya agrees with Ser Jaime Lannister that the smallfolk will not abandon the Brotherhood until they come to love Lancel as much as they once loved her father.[4]
