Lorent Caswell is the Lord of Bitterbridge and the head of House Caswell.[2]

Appearance and Character

Lorent is a wispy, young man who has two daughters.[3] Rolly considers Lorent to be a weakling and a weedy, pinch-faced sneak.[1]

History

Lorent became a page, a squire, and finally a knight in service to his father, Lord Caswell. Lorent had four sisters, but no brothers, so the other squires of Bitterbridge would barely lay a finger on him in the yard. One day, Lorent claimed a longsword that was a gift for the castle armorer's son, Rolly, who was a member of the Bitterbridge garrison, and told Rolly he was fit to hold a hammer, not a sword. Rolly then beat Lorent with a hammer until both arms and half his ribs were broken.[1]

Recent Events

A Clash of Kings

Lord Caswell supports King Renly Baratheon, and welcomes his army at Bitterbridge, where a great melee is held. This is where Lady Catelyn Stark meets with Renly, speaking to him during a feast held by Lorent. News arrives of the siege of Storm's End by King Stannis Baratheon.[3]

After Renly's assassination at Storm's End, Lord Randyll Tarly goes to Bitterbridge to take back the supplies that had been stored there. Lorent locks himself inside his castle, refusing to implicate himself any more.[4]

A Feast for Crows

While searching for Sansa Stark, Brienne of Tarth encounters two guards at the gates of Maidenpool wearing the livery of House Caswell. This indicates Lorent followed his liegelords of House Tyrell in declaring for King Joffrey.[5]
