Maester Luwin recieves a box containing a secret message meant for Catelyn Stark.[2] After Catelyn reads the letter, the Starks decide that they must continue on as if nothing happened, Lord Eddard will continue south with the king. Then Bran is attacked and Catelyn races off to inform her husband of the new events. After Robb's departure south after Lord Eddard had been taken prisoner, Maester Luwin is named castellan of Winterfell. He relinquishes the title upon Ser Rodrik Cassel's return from the south.
