Ser Marston Waters was a knight of Aegon II’s Kingsguard.[1]

History

Ser Marston had kin in Dragonstone. He was the bastard son of Tom Tanglebeard’s sister by the knight who took her maidenhead. He was also Tom Tangletongue’s cousin. Marston had other "cousins" on Dragonstone but none of them were actual blood relations.[1]

The Dance of the Dragons

When Rhaenyra Targaryen's dragons first appeared in the skies above King's Landing Lord Larys Strong spirited the king and his children out of the city. He concealed the fugitive Aegon II on a fishing skiff and put him in the care of Ser Marston. The skiff sailed for Dragonstone.[1]

After his arrival Aegon stayed hidden on Dragonstone. The wounded Sunfyre eventually returned from Rook's Rest to Dragonstone and fought and killed the Grey Ghost. After his return Ser Marston and his cousins set sail to look for the Grey Ghost’s killer, whom they suspected was Sunfyre. Aegon and Sunfyre were reunited. While they both healed the Two Toms and Ser Marston returned to the other side of the island to seek out men willing to help them take Dragonstone castle.[1]

Ser Marston, Tom Tangletongue and their men managed to take the castle but Lady Baela Targaryen managed to elude them, locate her dragon Moondancer and rise up on her to challenge Aegon and Sunfyre as they made their descent. After hitting the ground she dragged herself away from her dying dragon, Ser Alfred Broome drew his sword to slay her but Ser Marston Waters wrenched the blade from his hand.[1]

For his valor King Aegon named Ser Marston to his Kingsguard. Ser Marston, along with the other knights and lords present, did not speak a word of protest when King Aegon delivered his half sister to his dragon.[1]

Marston continued in his duties for King Aegon II and returned with him to King's Landing, after Aegon II was poisoned.

Reign of Aegon III

Marston for reasons unknown managed to keep his position as a knight of the Kingsguard under the new boy king Aegon III. He possibly was allowed to keep his position due to his actions in stopping the murder of Aegon's young cousin Baela who was also Corlys Velartons grandchild who now served as one of Aegons regents.

Marston during the Regent wars somehow became Hand of the King (though for a very short time) after Lord Rowan was arrested for treason. Marston was eventually slain by his own sworn brother Ser Mervyn Flowers of the Kingsguard when Waters attempted to arrest him. [2]
