Recent Events
A Clash of Kings
As a vassal of Dragonstone, Monford supports Stannis Baratheon's claim to the Iron Throne. However, he threatens to take his forces home if they do not strike soon.[2] Lord Monford is present when Melisandre burns the sept on Dragonstone. Ser Davos Seaworth notices that Monford watches Stannis rather than the conflagration, but Davos thinks to himself the highborn Lord Velaryon would never confide in a man as lowborn as Davos.[3]
A Storm of Swords
It is reported by Lord Alester Florent that Lord Monford burned with his ship, Pride of Driftmark, on the Blackwater Rush during the Battle of the Blackwater.[4] He is succeeded by his young son, Monterys Velaryon.[5]
