Myrish lace

Myrish lace refers to a variety of lace coming from the Free City of Myr. It is said to be worth its own weight in gold and spice.[1]

History

King Jaehaerys I Targaryen and his master of coin, Rego Draz, instituted a series of luxury taxes on expensive foreign imports, such as Myrish lace.[2]

Daenaera Velaryon wore a pale white silk, Myrish lace, and pearls at the Maiden's Day Ball.[3]

Trade between Westerosi ports and the Free Cities boomed during the Lysene Spring, including the trade of Myrish lace.[4]

The inhabitants of Duskendale considered Serala of Myr to be responsable for the Defiance of Duskendale and the downfall of House Darklyn. They gave her the nickname of the "Lace Serpent" in reference to her city of origin.[5]

Meeting Eddard Stark in the throne room after King Robert I Baratheon's death, Cersei Lannister wears a gown of sea-green silk, trimmed with Myrish lace as pale as foam.[6]

Daenerys Targaryen sees slaves carrying bolts of intricate Myrish lace in the Western Market of Vaes Dothrak.[7]

A Clash of Kings

Theon Greyjoy hears the captain of the Myraham say they carry bolts of Myrish lace when docking on the Lordsport.[8]

Trader captains bring Daenerys Targaryen bolts of lace from Myr as tokens.[9]

A Storm of Swords

Sansa Stark is informed by a seamstress her new gown will include Myrish lace.[10] When the gown is done, the lace is dove-gray, and it is worn in her wedding to Tyrion Lannister.[11]

In Harrenhal, Brienne of Tarth is given a pink gown sewn with pink Myrish lace and satin, as those were the only women's garments found for her.[12][13]

Daario Naharis wears clothes with Myrish lace the color of butter on his collar and cuff when first meeting Daenerys Targaryen.[14] Grazdan mo Eraz wears a tokar fringed with golden Myrish lace when meeting with Daenerys as an envoy from Yunkai.[14]

Margaery Tyrell wears a wedding gown of ivory silk and Myrish lace when marrying Joffrey Baratheon.[15]

Sansa Stark inspects Lysa Tully's wardrobe and finds gowns of Myrish lace.[16]

A Dance with Dragons

When discussing wedding preparations, Daenerys Targaryen asks to be given a green tokar to wear, fringed with Myrish lace.[17]

Tyrion Lannister takes notice that Sweets is dressed in moonstones and Myrish lace when meeting Yezzan zo Qaggaz's "collection" of slaves.[18]

A Myrish cog named Dove, on her way to Yunkai by way of New Ghis, carries a cargo of carpets, sweet green wines, and Myrish lace.[19]
