Recent Events
A Game of Thrones
Ser Preston was one of the Kingsguard who accompanied King Robert I on his boar-hunting trip, where Robert was gored.[3] He is later present in the throne room when Ser Barristan Selmy is dismissed, and laughs at his former sworn brother's shame.[4]
A Clash of Kings
Ser Preston beat Sansa Stark when ordered to by King Joffrey. According to Sansa, he treated her as a lackwit child during the beatings. [5] He guarded the Iron Throne when Tyrion Lannister sent Ser Cleos Frey back to Robb Stark with his terms for peace.[6]
Ser Preston was later a part of the procession to see Princess Myrcella off to Dorne. When the mob went mad in the streets of King's Landing, Ser Preston tried to cut his way back to aid the High Septon against the mob and was killed by the maddened people. It took the Gold Cloaks a few days to find his body, as they were searched for a knight in white armour. However, the rioters had so severely stabbed and hacked at Ser Preston's corpse that he was "red-brown from head to heel" and barely identifiable.[7]
