Purple eyes of different shades are exhibited by some characters in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire world.
The most well-known shade of purple eyes is violet. Two other shades are lilac and indigo. It is a rare and beautiful eye colour but is relatively common in the Targaryen family who are descended from the high lords of the ancient Valyrian Freehold.
The blood of old Valyria is often manifested by purple eyes - lilac or indigo or violet and hair of silver-gold or platinum white. This colouring may have been quite common in Valyria. In Westeros, few but the blood of the dragon have purple eyes, or hair that shines like beaten gold and strands of silver woven all together.

House Targaryen
Typical Targaryen features are silvery-gold or platinum hair and striking lilac or indigo or violet eyes and is a famous proclamation of their heritage.
It can end up being a tell-tale sign if a member of the family is trying to be incognito. Aegon V, disguised as Egg, shaved his head so that his silver-gold hair would not be recognised. Egg had the purple eyes of old Valyria, and the hair that shone like beaten gold and strands of silver woven together. Dunk thinks to himself that Egg had as well wear a three-headed dragon as a brooch as let that hair grow out.
The practice of incest has helped to preserve their rare colouring. Rhaegar’s eyes were dark indigo[1], Viserys’s eyes were lilac[1], their sister Daenerys’s eyes are violet.
The Targaryens do have blue eyes in their line also. Alysanne Targaryen's eyes were clear blue in colour.
House Blackfyre
House Blackfyre was founded by Daemon Blackfyre, the bastard-son of Aegon IV after he was legitimised by his dying father. Among the traits passed on to the Blackfyres by the Targaryens were the platinum blond hair and violet eyes.
House Velaryon
House Velaryon of Driftmark is an ancient and proud house, with the blood of old Valyria in its veins.[2][3] Velaryons, like the Targaryens, often have the Valyrian features of silver hair and purple eyes. [4] This House has thrice provided brides for Targaryen princes in the past.[5]
House Dayne
The trait for violet eyes runs in House Dayne, however it is an usual eye colour in Westeros. Ashara Dayne in particular was famous for her haunting violet eyes.[6]
The Free Cities
Where the blood of the old Valyrian Freehold runs strong purple eyes and silver hair can still be found. Many Lysene have white blond hair and smooth fair skin.[7] It is claimed that half the whores in Lys have purple eyes and silver hair. Some slaves have purple eyes and silver hair also.
