Queenscrown is an abandoned holdfast and village west of the kingsroad in the Gift, south of the Wall.[1]

A stone causeway lies beneath the water that surrounds the holdfast. The third floor of the holdfast has arrow slits, the fourth had windows and the fifth floor was one large round chamber with three sides opening onto stone balconies. Along the fourth side sat the privy. Its merlons are painted gold. The remnants of an inn and village can still be seen.[2]

History

During a visit to the North, Queen Alysanne Targaryen flew north to the Wall on her dragon, Silverwing. She stayed at the holdfast on her way, so the villagers painted the merlons atop the tower gold.[3]

Recent Events

A Storm of Swords

Bran Stark, Hodor, Meera Reed and Jojen Reed stay overnight at Queenscrown on their march to the Wall. While they wait out a storm, a man passing through arrives and stays in the ruined village to wait out the storm too. Jon Snow arrives with the wildlings he is travelling with and they capture the man. Jon is ordered to kill the man, but balks and Ygritte kills the man anyway.[2][3]
