The Riverlands and the location of Raventree Hall [1]

Raventree Hall is the seat of House Blackwood. It is located in Blackwood Vale in the Riverlands.

The Castle

The castle has ancient stone walls with moss climbing up them. There were two huge, square towers flanking the gate and a square tower at each angle in the wall. Inside the walls there is a muddy outer ward, a cavernous timber keep and a godswood. In the godswood there is a dead ancient weirwood of colossal size. Every evening at dusk hundreds of ravens come and roost all night on the dead weirwood as they have for thousands of years. It is claimed to have been poisoned by the Brackens.[2]

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

During the War of the Five Kings, the stronghold was taken by House Lannister due to the absence of Lord Blackwood.[3]

A Storm of Swords

At some point, the Northern army gains control of Raventree Hall. Ser Garth Greenfield was held captive there.[4]

A Feast for Crows

Raventree is under assault by Lord Jonos Bracken. Lord Karyl Vance implored Ser Jaime Lannister to intervene, knowing that Lord Tytos Blackwood would never surrender to Lord Jonos.[5]

A Dance with Drangons

Jaime Lannister goes to Raventree Hall and receives the surrender of Lord Tytos Blackwood, taking his son Hoster Blackwood as a hostage to ensure Lord Tytos's good behavior.[6]

Raventree was the last holdout in the Riverlands, to declare themselves for new King Tommen Baratheon, in the wake of the Red Wedding and the following submission of Riverrun and Seagard.
