The Reach proper is the portion of the Reach which formed the core of the historical Kingdom of the Reach, which was ruled by House Gardener of Highgarden. The Reach proper was based around the river Mander, stretching from the Shield Islands as far as Tumbleton. The Reach proper also extended north to Goldengrove and Red Lake. Over time, the Gardeners added Oldtown, the Arbor, and the western marches around Horn Hill, to the Kingdom of the Reach.[1]
