A Feast for Crows

Ser Jaime Lannister led his force past Sow's Horn on his way to Riverrun.

He met with Ser Roger who told him of the deprivations and attacks he had suffered during the War of the Five Kings. He tells Jaime of the Karstark’s that came round looking for Jaime but he and his men saw them off and buried three of them down by the turnips. Prior to the Karstarks some Lannisters came around, led by Ser Amory Lorch, he slaughtered half his sheep and three good milk goats and tried to roast Ser Roger in his tower, but became bored when it wouldn’t burn and rode off. Four legged wolves then arrived and ate the sheep Lorch left. Ser Roger adds that he got a few good pelts in recompense but fur will not fill your belly. He asks Jaime what should they do. Jaime advises him to plant and pray for one last harvest.

On the suggestion of Ser Kennos of Kayce, Ser Lyle Crakehall questioned Ser Roger on his ancestry, making sure he was not a long lost Crakehall. [2]
