Character
Ronard is remembered as a fearsome warrior and a lusty king.[1]
History
After being named castellan of Storm's End by his half-brother, King Morden II Durrandon, Ronard effectively ruled the stormlands and helped to slow the decline of House Durrandon. Ronard was wed to Morden's sister.[1]
Within five years Ronard had replaced Morden as Storm King, with Morden's queen placing Morden's crown atop Ronard's head. She also allegedly slept with the new king as well. Instead of executing Morden, Ronard confined his harmless half-brother to a tower cell.[1]
During Ronard's rule of nearly thirty years, he defeated several rebel bannermen and petty kings in battle, taking a daughter from each adversary who surrendered. According to singers, Ronard had twenty-three wives and ninety-nine sons, most of them bastards without inheritance. Many smallfolk of the stormlands thus claim to have royal blood thousands of years later.[1]
