The Sealord of Braavos is the ruler of the Free City of Braavos. His champion and protector is the First Sword of Braavos and he resides at the Sealord's Palace.

Statues commemorating past Sealords and their achievements line the canals of Braavos.[1] The office is not hereditary, and when the Sealord dies a new one is chosen and knives will come out.[2]

History

Many years ago Prince Oberyn Martell travelled to Braavos where Viserys Targaryen and Daenerys Targaryen were being kept by Ser Willem Darry. Oberyn and Willem signed a secret pact, which the Sealord of Braavos witnessed, promising Viserys the hand of Arianne Martell in return for Dorne's help in claiming the Iron Throne. The name of the Sealord who witnessed the pact has not been mentioned.

His menagerie includes striped horses, great spotted things with necks as long as stilts, hairy mouse-pigs as big as cows, stinging manticores, tiger that carry their cubs in a pouch, and terrible walking lizards with scythes for claws.[3]

A Feast for Crows

The Sealord in power, Ferrego Antaryon, owns a pleasure barge covered with laughing faces.[4]

A Dance with Dragons

Ferrego is sick and there is a rumor that Tormo Fregar will be chosen as the new Sealord.[2]
