Stoney Sept is a walled town in the Riverlands.

Town

The sept sits on a hill. Below it is a holdfast made of grey stone that seems undersized for the town that surrounds it. The heart of Stoney Sept is a market square with a fountain in the shape of a leaping trout.[1]

History

Stoney Sept was the site of one of the most important battles of Robert's Rebellion. Robert Baratheon, with the aid of Lords Eddard Stark, Jon Arryn and Hoster Tully beat a royal army under the command of Lord Jon Connington, the Hand of the King to Aerys II.[2]

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

Ser Wilbert the Knight of Stoney Sept is slain by Lannister raiders.[3] The city had seen battle during the War of the Five Kings

A Clash of Kings

All the sons of Ser Wilbert rode to the Westerlands with Robb Stark.

A Storm of Swords

It is reported that there is famine around Stoney Sept.[4] The city had seen battle during the War of the Five Kings, since its gates had been smashed and replaced.[5] Every third house was burned and empty.[6]
