On the use of the Targaryen CoA for Aerion (and all other Targaryens before him)

In A Clash of Kings-Chapter 63 we learn that the three-headed dragon represents Aegon, Visenya, and Rhaenys. We furthermore learn in (TWOIAF or Fire & Blood? I can't recall) that the coat of arms was created by the inhabitants of King's Landing, and Aegon then adopted it officially. Would it not then be incorrect to use the coat of arms for Targaryens that predate Aegon and his sisters? --Potsk (talk) 21:07, 16 October 2021 (UTC)

Technically yes, House Targaryen and its heraldry did not exist prior to the Conquest. Before that it was only the "Targaryen family" of Valyria/Dragonstone. --Thomaerys Velaryon (talk) 09:03, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
Does anyone object? If not, I will begin removing the CoAs. --Potsk (talk) 09:51, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
while it is technically incorrect to use it for Targaryens before the conquest removing it may cause confusion, people may wonder why the coat of arms is not used, so if you remove it then there should be some way for people to see why the coat of arms is not used. --Direpupy (talk)
What do you propose? --Potsk (talk) 14:39, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
I have no idea, but this is why the coat of arms was never removed the confusion it would cause simply was not worth it. But if you can come up with something then go ahead with the removal. --Direpupy (talk)
