Tybolt Lannister was Lord of Casterly Rock and head of House Lannister. He was the eldest son and heir of Lord Damon Lannister. He had a younger brother, Gerold, who was his advisor.[7]

Appearance and Character

Tybolt had golden hair. He wore crimson armor that bore the golden lion of Casterly Rock.[1]

Raymun Fossoway believed that Tybolt's prowess in tourneys was equally matched by his cousin, Ser Steffon Fossoway.[1]

History

Tourney at Ashford Meadow

Ser Tybolt participated in the tourney at Ashford Meadow in 209 AC, beginning the tourney as a challenger. In his first tilt he chose to challenge Ser Androw Ashford and defeated him after six broken lances, taking his place as a champion. In one of his later tilts, Ser Tybolt was unhorsed by Ser Jon Penrose and broke his sword in his fall, but fought back with shield alone to win the bout and remain a champion.[1]

Ser Steffon Fossoway later thought to challenge Tybolt as champion, believing themselves to be equally matched.[1]

Lord of Castery Rock

Tybolt become Lord of Casterly Rock upon the death of his father, Lord Damon Lannister, during the Great Spring Sickness in 210 AC.[4][8] His brother Gerold served as his advisor.[7]

In 211 AC, Lord Dagon Greyjoy threatened the westerlands, carrying off half the wealth of Fair Isle.[7] In response, Tybolt began building a fleet to strike back at the Greyjoys at sea and by assaulting the Iron Islands.[8] Tybolt later made common cause with Lord Beron Stark of Winterfell to war against Lord Dagon,[9] for King Aerys I Targaryen was not lending the Iron Throne's aid.[8]

Despite being a young and healthy man, he died under suspicious circumstances in 212 AC. Tybolt was briefly succeeded by his three-year-old daughter, Cerelle Lannister, with Tybolt's younger brother Gerold as her regent. However, she passed away less than a year later, leading many to suspect Gerold of having a hand in their deaths, as he succeeded Cerelle as Lord of Casterly Rock.[2]

Family

Tybolt Lannister was the eldest son and heir of Lord Damon Lannister and Lady Cerissa of House Brax. His younger brother was Gerold Lannister. Tybolt married Lady Teora Kyndall and had a single daughter with her, Cerelle, who succeeded him as Lady of Casterly Rock.[5]

Notes:
  1. In 298 AC, it has been roughly ninety years ago since Gowen and Tya were wed, placing their marriage around 208 AC. Therefore Tya was a contemporary to Lords Damon (d.210 AC) and Tybolt (d.212 AC).
