Prince Viserys Targaryen was the second son of King Aenys I Targaryen and Queen Alyssa Velaryon.
History
Viserys and his older brother Aegon, were with their grandfather, King Aegon I Targaryen, when he died in 37 AC.[2]
After the death of King Aenys I, Viserys' uncle Maegor took the throne over Viserys' elder brother, Aegon. Viserys was kept at the Red Keep, as Maegor's squire and hostage. After Dowager Queen Visenya Targaryen died in 44 AC, Viserys' mother, Alyssa Velaryon, fled with Viserys' younger siblings, Jaehaerys and Alysanne.[3]
Because of this, Viserys was tortured for nine days, until he died. His body was left in the courtyard for a fortnight, in the hopes that his mother would feel forced to return to claim the body of her son. Alyssa did not return.[3]
