Warden of the South is a title bestowed on the most prominent house of The Reach by the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. The oldest and second largest city in Westeros, Oldtown, is within the Reach.
Responsibilities
The initial appointment of a warden in southern Westeros was likely to deal with Dorne who had not been subdued during the Targaryen Conquest and were still hostile to all outsiders.
