The Womb of the World is a large lake that lies near Vaes Dothrak. It is a holy place to the Dothraki people. It is reported that the lake has no bottom.[1] A river runs from the lake north through the Kingdoms of the Ifeqevron to the Shivering Sea.[2]
Legend
According to their legends, the first man emerged from its depths, riding on back of the first horse, over a thousand years ago. The lake is surrounded by reeds.[1]
Recent Events
A Game of Thrones
After eating the heart of a stallion as part of a ceremony for her child, Daenerys Targaryen rides to the lake and bathes naked in the lake to remove the blood. Afterwards she has sex with Khal Drogo on the shore.[1]
