Recent Events

A Dance with Dragons

Along with her fellow pit fighters Khrazz, Camarron of the Count, Goghor the Giant, the Spotted Cat, Fearless Ithoke, and Belaquo Bonebreaker, Barsena accompanies Hizdahr zo Loraq when he petitions Daenerys Targaryen for the seventh time for the fighting pits of Meereen to be reopened.[3]

When the pits are to be reopened to celebrate the marriage of Hizdahr and Daenerys, the queen wants to forbid women from competing. Barsena protests, however, and Daenerys relents. Barsena faces a boar with a dagger instead of a spear. Despite her quickness and skill, the boar's tusk rips Barsena's left leg open. Moments after the boar disembowels the fallen pit fighter, Drogon descends into Daznak's Pit, kills the boar with dragonflame, and begins to devour both corpses.[2]

Daenerys: And the losers? What shall they receive?

Barsena: Their names shall be graven on the Gates of Fate amongst the other valiant fallen. All men must die, and women too ... but not all will be remembered.[3]
